Spells ============ Equip a Spellbook and rightclick. Top row represents spellpower 1-5 (weak mages do not begin with all). If you do not select a spellpower the spell will be cast at highest level. Higher levels consume more mana so sometimes it will be unneccessary. Now click the runes for your spell, such as rune 1 & 3 for Magical Light. Click the HEX to cast the spell. Spells you need often and quick can be stored in slot I, II or III. Once the runes are selected, rightclick your chosen slot on the right side, then you can later cast the spell by simply leftclicking the slot. Evil's Doom uses runes in a 4x4 grid. Quickstart ================ This quick guide will get you to the first dungeon. Feel free to explore some more if you like. A detailed guide of the overland areas follows where you can read about who you can recruit, what you can buy etc. * Click the white face & eye to look for NPC's. * Speak to Wizard (Sawak) and offer to help his daughter. * Click on the door and select "tavern". * Speak to the maid (Swana). Be nice and ask for a store. * Talk to the bartender. Ask him about "castle of Lost Legions" to get it on your map. * You should recruit 2 more characters. I prefer to have two spellcasters and like to recruit the "hag" (Gedryn) here which is one of the most powerful mages (highest magic power, all runes except 5). Kiss her twice. She have the healing scroll in her inventory for the wizard. The Wise Man (Kallak) also have one but you need to give him a sword to get it and his list of runes is worse. If you really want him you can give him Vantans +2 sword, a sword from another NPC or one your bought. You can get a Long Sword for 4gp later on. * When you have the scroll, give it to Wizard (Sawak) on the Town Pier to get the much important Vorpal Sword. * (optional) Go to the Market if you like and speak to the trader (Koshin) and tell him Swana sent you. The Druid here is a decent mage but needs a light +4 scroll that can be bought in Arnoy. No rush though, there are other mages. * Click on the map and select "Castle of Lost Legions" * Look (eye), Look for NPC, talk to Old Man and be friendly, learn all you can. * You can now go to Castle of Mythil if you want. The guard Guard (Pentiumus) sells some really cheap items, including a Long Sword for 4gp if you really want the Wise Man (Kallak). There are other mages to consider though and even if it's cheap and +1 protection of what you get in the earlier levels, none of the items are essential. On the other hand, you can buy all of them and sell them, this will give you more credits than you bought them for. * The Amazon in Village of Luea Church is one of the best mages. She have all runes except one from the beginning, highest intelligence and wisdom, but rather poor health. * Feel free to sell off your sword +2, your knives, all food, Vantans peasent shirt and your scrolls for some money if you like. If you have a mage with OTRA & SETA they can use the feast spell to recover water/food and you find a better armor and more swords before you need them. * If you use Gedryn, buy her ASTON, SET & ARC so she can heal and throw light, heal and voodoo. Buy them in Luea if you are cheap, you do not need to pay for a candle there. * Talk to the Knight who guards Village of Arnoy. He also sells a compass for 210gp and and Axe of Kuntaa that strike undead (165gp). Not neccessary but useful if you can afford it (one fighter with Vorpal Blade will get you through the first dungeon). * Once you are done, go back to "Castle of Lost Legions" and click the door to enter. * You can pick up and use the torch, but it's easier to just use a light spell. Rightclick your mage and click the icon of a standing person in the middle. Equip the left hand (right hand-slot) with a spellbook. Rightclick to exit. Rightclick the book and select the first and third icon (looks like lightning and a fly). An icon will automatically be added as the first icon, this is the spell power. Rightclick the scroll with a III to the right, this is a quickslot. Now click the star in the bottom right to throw the spell. * Walk one step forward, turn around, walk forward to exit. Exiting will max your food and water which is important if you have the Amazon who begins with very low food/water. Return down. * Enable the automap with runes 9, 13 and 5. See it by pressing "M". * Feel free to equip the rest of your characters. In the first room you will find a better armour for one of your fighters. * Make sure your Vorpal Blade is equipped. Regular weapons cant hit ghosts. Rightclick the sword to attack. You can also use spells but it's barely neccessary. ================================ 05. How do I use the magical map? ---------------------------------------- As a general rule, use the magical map spell. Equip and use (rightlick) a spellbook, then use rune 9, 13, 5 You open the map by clicking on the green orb next to the character portrait. You may also press "M" on your keyboard. White dots on a wall means there's a button/lever somewhere on it. Dark grey dots means the wall can be walked through. A light green icon means that an item is placed on the floor. Finding the white and dark grey dots will take you through most of the game. Castle of Lost Legions Level 1, can't see anything!!! ----------------------------------------------------- There's a torch right in front of you. You may also use a Magical Light spell. Equip and use (rightclick) a spellbook, then use rune: 1 & 3 Castle of Lost Legions Level 1, my character is hungry/thirsty!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Eat apples or bread. You may also use a feast spell. Equip and use (rightclick) a spellbook, then use rune: 8, 4 Castle of Lost Legions Level 1, the ghosts take no damage! ---------------------------------------------------------- Ghosts are immaterial, thus you need weapons/spells that can hit them. First you can find is the Worpal Blade. Find and give a Healing Scroll +5 to the wizard at Titangel Pier. Second is Axe of Kuntaa that can be bought by Stilgar (the Knight) in Arnoy road. You may also use the Voodoo spell with your mages. It's the eleventh rune. Castle of Lost Legions Level 1, I am out of keys! ------------------------------------------------- Unlike many Dungeon Master style games, Evil's Doom allow you to reuse some keys. Once you unlocked a door, try to click the key again to see if you can get it back. Castle of Lost Legions Level 1, how do i get the helmet in the cell? -------------------------------------------------------------------- In order to get the helmet in the prison cell, use the teleport spell. Equip and use (rightclick) a spellbook, then use rune: 5, 13, 10 Now click on top of the door and you teleport right into the celldoor. Castle of Lost Legions Level 3, a cross? ---------------------------------------- The central area have a cross-like formation that can only be seen on the map. Castle of Lost Legions Level 4, how do I get past the pit? ---------------------------------------------------------- You need to find the stairway down to the west area of Level 5. Castle of Lost Legions Level 5, how do I pay tax? ------------------------------------------------- You need golden coins. Place them in the slots. There are six of them; 1-3, Level 3, Guard Captains room 4, Level 3, hidden room in the middle of last room 5, West level 5, east corridor, south from stairs 6, East level 4, Left/north room Castle of Lost Legions Level 6, how do I stop the wheels? --------------------------------------------------------- Click the buttons and pull the levers on the walls; 1: 1X3 2: 1XX X24 2X3 Castle of Lost Legions Level 7, what buttons/levers should I use? ----------------------------------------------------------------- Use night shield (rune 2, 9, 6) to protect against fire. In order to avoid a fireball nightmare, you only wish to do what's essential. Each will remove a wall in the fireball room and reveal a ghost key. Other buttons/levers will remove walls that free the fireball paths. Clicking those will only make things harder. Pull lever near note Pull lever 2 in west room (starting from the left) Push northwest button in north room Pull lever 3 in northwest room (starting from the left) Castle of Lost Legions Level 9, there's a door I cannot open! ------------------------------------------------------------- The door in the east room? If you find a way to open this door, please e-mail me @ jemym@home.se Castle of Lost Legions Level 10, how do I beat Dagar? ----------------------------------------------------- Just keep on hacking him and use the sidestep technique. (Sidestep and turn so Dagar walks in front of you, keep doing it). You may want your healthiest fighter to use the Stormblade. Use your wizards to keep the fighter healed. A suggestion is to use the healing scrolls since they cost no mana. Sword of Seth = Ritual Sword (Castle of Lost Legions level 4) Helmet of Seth = Beren's Helm (Caste of Lost Legions level 7) Eye of The Serpent = Glowing Gem (Castle of Wisdom level 4) Answers; You have just said it. The Secret of True Power can only be the truth. The artifact isn't strong, flesh is stronger... That one lies in the deep mind and swift tongue. Castle Mythil, where do I go? ----------------------------- In general, use the magical map to find every secret and item. First find the cellar key and go through the cellar. Pick up the skull and rope with hook down there. Now go up the EAST tower and take all keys. Use the rope & hook in the window on 2nd floor to NORTH tower. Get to the top floor and get the Grail of Success. Use the rope & hook to get to the west tower. When you are asked for a drink, place Grail of Success. Use rope & hook to SOUTH tower. At top floor use the skull in the alchove to change the pit pattern. Get past the pits to meet Mehep. Castle Mythil, East Tower Level 2, a window? -------------------------------------------- Use the rope & hook to get across. You find it in the cellar. Castle Mythil, West Tower Level 3, "give me a drink"? ----------------------------------------------------- When you find the writing "Give me a drink and thou shall not fail!" place the Grail of Success in the alchove. Grail of Sucess is located at the top floor in the northern tower. Castle Mythil, South Tower Level 4 ---------------------------------- This place is confusing until you realize that one of the buttons opens three walls on a timer. Click the button and wait for a moment and more paths are revealed. Once the two buttons in the right passage is clicked there's a teleporter at the end of the middle one. Castle Mythil, South Tower Level 5, pits? ----------------------------------------- You need to change the pattern by placing a skull in the alchove. You find one skull in a prison cell in the cellar. You can also buy one from Chen Lu in Village of Luea. I did Castle Mythil, now what? ------------------------------ Speak to Meheph Travel to Black Mountains, speak to Baba Travel to Delta Pond of Throxyl, speak to ferryman (You may either pay or threaten) Speak to Waterman, buy shell (not neccessary) Enter Lake of Belcoon Dungeon, Level 2, decompression chamber! -------------------------------------------------------- Lower levels are flooded so you need to prepare. Find the following five items; Medallion of Water Breathing (Level 1, Southern secret corridor) Medallion of Water Breathing (Level 1, Middle door in room with 3 doors) Helmet of Water Breathing (Level 1, Secret west room) Helmet of Water Breathing (Level 1, Northwest room) Giant War Hammer (Level 2, Southeast room) Walk into the pressure chamber to the north. Push the button to open the right door/close the exit. Walk inside and attack the wall to the left with the Giant War Hammer. QUICKLY run out and push the button again. Wait for a moment. Both doors may now be opened as the water have been drained. Equip the water breathing items and walk down. Lake of Belcoon Dungeon, Level 4, returning the shells? ------------------------------------------------------- There are four shells and three slots; 1. Bought from Waterman (Aqurawtoo) at the entrance. 2. Upside down T in the northwest section. 3. West room, take teleporter in south room. 4. Northeast room. Place three shells in the alchoves to pass on. Lake of Belcoon Dungeon, Level 5, what's intelligent? ----------------------------------------------------- Kill the sharks to gain experience, or bypass them alltogether. To bypass them, use the secret button to the east and use the teleport. Find the key, then use the right teleporter. Lake of Belcoon Dungeon, Level 6, broken door... ------------------------------------------------ Note that this puzzle was broken in earlier editions of the game. Use version 1.8 or higher. Once you find the broken door, walk back and around so you stand in the corridor south of the door. Now hack the wall until it breaks. When you see the mechanism, use he rope. The rope is found in the "Repair Room" on Level 4. Lake of Belcoon Dungeon, Level 7, how do I beat the sentry? ----------------------------------------------------------- Equip one fighter with Tongue of the Serpent. Attack the Sentry when charged. Now attack the Sentry with your other fighter or another weapon. When the Tongue of Serpent is charged again, use it again. This will render the Sentry completely powerless. To speed up the process, use all the fireball scrolls first. You might also wish to use the Storm Wand to speed things up. I did Lake of Belcoon dungeon, now what? ---------------------------------------- Travel to Black Mountain, speak to Baba Travel to Arnoy, speak to Blacksmith (pay him) Travel to Luea Travel to Arnoy, speak to Blacksmith Travel to Castle Mythil, give Meheph the copy Castle of Wisdom Level 1, I am diseased or poisoned... ------------------------------------------------------ Reload the game. Try using the Demon Cloak so that you aren't attacked. Castle of Wisdom Level 1, monsters melee attack me on range! ------------------------------------------------------------ They are bugged. This often happens when using magic weapons or spells when cloaked. Use your stored charges with your weapon against a wall before attacking a monster with it. Castle of Wisdom Level 2, how do I get past the teleporters? ------------------------------------------------------------ Do not push anything yet. The buttons have a 8 click cycle meaning that the eight time you click a button everything goes back to it's first setting. You can cheat past this one, use the magic map spell, now walk across a teleporter. When you are teleported you reveal the square behind it. You can use the teleport spell to jump to that square. If you wan't to solve it; There are four locations that may change every time you click a button. A location either have a wall, is empty or have a teleporter. Your goal is to make sure that each of the four locations are empty. Note that a wall can be on top of a teleporter. There are several solutions, this works unless you clicked anything yet; Click the first button 6 times (first from left) Click the third button 5 times Click the fourth button 1 time I do not think this will help you, but here's my notes... I actually forgot why I did them twice and what the second one mean. They will show the setting for every push, but if you already pushed something the notes may not help you. You find three keys in the minirooms to the south. You find the fourth on the boss. Castle of Wisdom Level 4, how do I open the doors? -------------------------------------------------- You unlock the doors by clicking the buttons below the southern stairwell. Facing the buttons you need to click the left (east) and the middle to open the east door. Castle of Wisdom Level 4, how do i beat Kemsa? ---------------------------------------------- The safest strategy I found is to use a Demon Cloak and dualwield your favorite weapons with one character. Use Necklace of Crya or Kigaly. Empty magic charges against a wall first to avoid Kemsa bugging out. Now simply follow him around and keep hacking. Use a 2nd Demon Cloak mid through. Skeleton Cape, how can I help Obitas? ------------------------------------- You can only complete this quest after Castle of Wisdom. If you do it cannot be retreived, use it on the west door first. The door keeps a Black Brotherhood helm. To open the EAST door, find the secret room with levers and push them all. Upon returning from the east sublevel, push the lever near the door. To open the SOUTH door, release the inner most lever (east levers locked). Upon returning from the south sublevel, find the secret passage. Click the switch at the end of the passage, then the lever near the door. To open the WEST door, release the left lever on the east wall (only right one locked). Push the lever near the door. To open the NORTH door release the right (final) lever on the east wall (all unlocked). If you need back it might be easier to use the teleport spell. Wear two shields with one fighter, a shield and Paralax with the other. Equip your fighter with Paralax with the Helmet of Speed. Equip a rear side characters with the best fireball scrolls you have, the healing wand and the Weaken Spell if you still have it. Use a light Demon Cloak to get close, but wait for it to wear off (this will avoid a Party Held spell). Cast weaken, the fireballs, then hack him with the paralax like crazy.
